Hi Art Friends!
On Wednesday April 1st I will hold a test meeting through zoom just to make sure everything works for when I start my art lessons after spring break! You will be getting an email from your homeroom teacher with all the information you need if you would like to join the test meeting. These live art lessons are completely optional. I miss seeing everyone and would love to provide live lessons for you guys to do while you are home!

Hi Everyone! I have a few things to let you know about today so I will just jump right in. First since we are home I encourage you to think about participating in the PTA Reflections competition for next school year. Here is a little blurb about it from our PTA. National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response a student-selected theme. The theme for the 2020-2021 program year is I Matter Because... Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. The second thing I would like to make you aware of is that beginning this Wednesday through the time we are home, I will be holding Zoom art classes. I am going to post a schedule tomorrow of what time and days each grade levels class will be. These will be short art lessons that I will lead the students through. Check back tomorrow for the link to the meeting and times. I hope to see you all! I have missed all my Kemp students. :) Kemp Famous Art Takeover!! I have attached a few different famous works of art. With the help of your family I want to see you recreate these at home. Take a picture of your recreation and tag Kemp Elementary on social media or email me: [email protected]. I can't wait to see what you come up with!! Talk soon! Mrs. Smith Hi Art Friends! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. My daughter and I spent some time outside doing a mural on the fence. We taped off the fence to make a design and then colored in the spaces with side walk chalk! You should try it, with mom and dad's permission of course. :) This week I am teaming up with Mrs. Mascheri to offer a bingo/choice board of art and music activities for you to complete. Just pick 5 activities or do more if you want!! Each file attached below is a sheet for 2 grades, find the one for your grade level. As always I would love to see anything you create. :) Parents I posted a survey below. If you wouldn't mind taking a few minuets to fill it out I would greatly appreciate it. :) Happy creating!! Mrs. Smith
Parents,
I have a quick survey that I would appreciate you completing for me. The link is below. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=-x3OL5-ROEmquMR_D8kYLcL7S4fQLHhHu_f6evJ7uNFUOE5XS0MzVldaTkM1TzYxRkU1VkhNRFI2UC4u Thanks! Mrs. Smith Happy Friday! Today I am leaving the creativity up to you! Go outside and draw with sidewalk chalk. Find a rock and paint it! Do an art hub for kids drawing. Or use recyclables to create a sculpture. Whatever you decide to do on your Fun Friday will be awesome! Don't forget to share with me! I love to see all the art you are creating while we are away from school. Have a great day and weekend! Mrs. Smith Good Morning Art Friends & Happy Spring!! Today is the first day of spring and I have a project for you today to celebrate! For this project you'll need: 2 pieces paper paint, markers or crayons black sharpie scissors glue Step 1: Draw a line down the middle of your paper. Then divide the left half into thirds. The right half of the paper needs to have a line that divides the top third of the paper and the bottom 2/3s. Once you are done you should have 1 tall section for stems and 4 smaller sections for the flowers. Step 2: Paint or color each section for your flowers a different color. You can go back on top of the dry paint with another color to add extra texture/details. In the tall section you want to use greens and yellows to create your stems. If you are using crayons and markers, color with the crayons first then use your markers to create accent colors on top of the crayons. Step 3: Once your paint is dry take a sharpie and draw your flower shape in each of the flower sections and then draw straight lines in the green section for your stems. Step 4: Cut out all your pieces and glue down to your second piece of paper. If you want on the second paper you could paint a background for your flowers or just paint a little bit of blue for the sky before you cut and glue. I hope you enjoy this spring project! Mrs. Smith
Good Morning Art Friends! St. Patrick's Day has always been my one of my favorites to celebrate! So to celebrate today I have a couple different activities for you. :) The blank shamrock can be decorated any way you like! Just print it out and get creative! Art for Kids Hub has a Leprechaun Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQXvBKUDinE Then I also found some coloring pages if you just want some quiet time to color! I hope you enjoy today's activities and share your finished work with me! I would love to see it! Mrs. Smith Happy Monday Everyone!! Just over the course of this weekend, I have seen such community among teachers helping one another navigate this unchartered time. Art teachers across the nation have been sharing ideas. I came across one idea that I thought would be so fun for the kids to do at home! Here are the details: Go around your house and find objects that are each color of the color wheel. Then place them in order in a circle and take a picture. You can share you picture below in the comments. I would love to see all of your color wheels! Found object color wheel example:
Good Morning Parents,
As we transition to our digital learning time, I wanted to provide you with some art activities for your students: 1. Art for Kids Hub is a great website/youtube channel that does step by step drawings that we have done in the art room before on a fun Friday. https://www.artforkidshub.com 2. Mati and Dada, an animated show about different famous artists. You can find the videos on YouTube. Over the course of our time at home as I find more resources, I will share them online. Stay healthy and safe! Mrs. Smith |
